Day of Prayer for Ebola Victims

posted 3 Nov 2014, 18:28 by Camberwell Deanery   [ updated 3 Nov 2014, 18:29 ]

Bishop Christopher (Bishop of Southwark) and Bishop Michael (Bishop of Woolwich) are arranging a day of prayer for communities in West Africa and the UK affected by Ebola.  A number of congregations in the Camberwell Deanery have family and friends in the affected countries and our prayers continue on their behalf.  If people wish to respond by giving aid, the Disasters Emergency Committee have made a UK-wide appeal and donations can be made safely and securely on the DEC Ebola Appeal website.

A service will take place on Saturday 29th November 2014 at St John's Church, Walworth (Larcom Street, SE17 1NQ).  The day will start at 9am with the Eucharist followed by prayers at 10am.  There will be another sung Eucharist at 12 noon and Benediction at 5.45pm.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day and prayer boards will be available for people to write their own prayers and place them by the altar.

An offering will be taken for Sierra Leone and other West African countries affected by the outbreak.
