Sponsor Bishop Michael sleeping out to raise funds against poverty

On Monday 12th October The Kia Oval will be hosting the London CEO Sleepout to give business executives the opportunity to do their part to tackle poverty and homelessness across London. I shall be sleeping out to raise money for Together Southwark, the Diocese of Southwark’s joint venture with Church Urban Fund to help transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people across London.

Last year 100 senior managers from the UK’s largest companies including Accenture, Aviva and Google braved heavy rain and slept outside at Wembley Stadium. 2015 will be the biggest event yet with 200 people taking part and the fundraising target of £200,000! Each sleeper is asked to set a nominal target of £3,000 to help us achieve this target (with a minimum commitment of £1,000).

I shall be taking up the challenge to sleep outdoors for the night and raise vital funds for Together Southwark and its projects run by parishes right across the Diocese. Please sponsor me to help our parishes and local charities tackling poverty in South London and East Surrey.

Please also pass this email around your parishes and networks for further sponsorship. We want to raise as much money as we can for our parishes’ mission against poverty!

You can make a donation by following this link: www.justgiving.com/Michael-Ipgrave or by sending a cheque made payable to ‘Church Urban Fund’, c/o Bishop Michael at Trinity House, Chapel Court, Borough High Street, London SE1 1HW. About Together Southwark

Together Southwark is working to bring churches and Christians together to tackle poverty in the Diocese of Southwark, covering south London and parts of East Surrey. We focus on identifying ways of working that empower the poorest individuals and families in the parishes. We want to ensure that they are able to build stable and healthy lifestyles that overcome the debilitating effects of poverty.

Together Southwark has several key objectives. We aim to:
  • Network local Christians and churches who are working to tackle poverty
  • Improve access to learning and resources, including financial support for projects
  • Develop new or existing work to tackle poverty
  • Raise awareness of local poverty and work that is being undertaken across the diocese
We are passionate about bringing God’s love, hope and justice to the poor and the marginalised, empowering them to transform their lives. We believe the local church is uniquely placed to make this happen and thus seek to support them reach even further and change things for the better. The work of Together Southwark is underpinned by the gospel imperative of working with the poor to build a just and righteous society where every individual is empowered to reach the highest level of personal fulfillment.

Please support us. Thank you.
